Dear prayer partner,
Missionary life is always exciting and adventurous, but we put a new twist on things by moving two families, outfitting the church meeting location, and having our first service in less than a month! It's hard to believe everything that happened in the last few weeks. It would have probably been recommended to wait three months or more after moving to launch, and it would have been much easier, but there is a cause.
Our first service was on September 1st, and I couldn't wait to write about it, so it is in this month's letter. We worked very hard to see everything come together and launch last Sunday. It's incredible how many details go into starting a church from scratch and how much it costs! We are so thankful God provided chairs and a keyboard, thanks to Victory Baptist Temple. There were also a couple of individuals who gave $1000 each to help cover costs. Thank you! We still have several pressing financial needs from the previous list, so please pray for God to provide.
Our first service had approximately 30 people in attendance! Some of them were from other churches in town, who helped greet and run things, but it was an exciting time, and everyone I've spoken to enjoyed the service. We had five families and five adults visit due to our outreach efforts, which were done 99% by social media. Everyone I spoke to after the service expressed a desire to be part of the church, and only one of these families has attended a like-minded church in the past. After the service, I met Sebastian, who is 29 years old. He said that this was his first-day attending church and that he loved it. I asked him how he had heard about us and why he chose to come here now if he had never been to a church. He said he saw our promotion on Facebook and felt a drawing to come. I pray for his salvation! Please continue to pray and give, as God is working here, and we want to see this church grow to be a very bright light in the community! I could go on and on about all that happened this last month with the challenges and praises, but I will say, Praise God!
For His Service,
Benjamin and Bernice George
